When should I take Azoren?

Alice Van Dyck March 10, 2023

Metabolic disease seems to be a normal thing among people living in this modern world. This could be from the sedentary lifestyle and bad eating habits. One of the common metabolic diseases is hypertension.High blood pressure or hypertension is a disease that often goes unnoticed unless a person does regular blood pressure monitoring or already faces complications such as stroke and heart attack. Hypertension is almost always discovered accidentally in a clinical setting when a person is sick from other diseases. It is also known as a “silent killer”. It is important to get treatment for hypertension to avoid complications. Hypertension is the leading cause for many cardiovascular diseases, accounting for the death of around 10 million people every year.

Two persons diagnosed with the same hypertension state may be given different drugs. Thus, do not be surprised if you are given drugs differently than other people because antihypertensive drugs prescribed depend on a person’s health condition and other medical issues.Hypertension is a long-term disease and. In most cases, a person will need to take antihypertensive drugs for the rest of their life. A person’s current treatment may be changed in the future due to many reasons such as their deteriorating health status or unable to achieve the targeted blood pressure. In hypertension cases that could not be controlled with one drug, combination of drugs is common. There are numerous antihypertensive drugs available in the market combined into a tablet or capsule. Azoren 40 mg is one of the antihypertensive drugs that combines two kinds of drugs.

Azoren 40 mg contains 40 mg of olmesartan medoxomil and 5 mg of amlodipine as its active ingredients. These two ingredients work on the blood vessels that play a role in the course of hypertension disease. Combinations of the two give antihypertensive effects that reduce blood pressure to a great degree compared to when taking one of the two components alone. Apart from treating high blood pressure alone, Azoren is used to treat other related cardiovascular diseases such as coronary artery disease and angina.

Azoren should be taken at the same time on a daily basis. It is recommended to take one tablet per day. A tablet of Azoren should be taken as a whole, meaning this tablet should not be chewed or crushed. If the tablet is not taken as a whole, the effectiveness of the drug may be reduced. The tablet should be swallowed with a sufficient amount of fluid such as a glass of water. Never take more than one tablet unless your healthcare provider says otherwise.

Azoren, just like any other drugs, does possess possible side effects. Common side effects include headaches, dizziness and swelling of the limb such as the hand, ankle or leg. Side effects are often mild. If this drug does cause you to feel sleepy or drowsy, do speak to your healthcare provider so that they can provide an alternative. It is dangerous to work with machinery or drive if you do experience dizziness or drowsy.

A person diagnosed with hypertension may have other medical issues as well. It is important to let your healthcare provider know if you have other medical conditions such as kidney issues or pregnancy and if there is other medicine you are taking. This can help prevent adverse events or drug interactions. Example of drugs that may cause interaction with Azoren are non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), other antihypertensive drugs like diuretic, antibiotics such as erythromycin and antifungal such as ketoconazole and itraconazole. If you have doubts regarding taking this medicine or ways of taking medicine, you can ask your healthcare provider directly or pharmacist for clear instructions and answers.

In essence, Azoren is a tablet that combines two types of antihypertensive drugs. Azoren helps to treat patients with hypertension that is difficult to control with only one drug. Combination of the two types makes it easy for patients to comply with their treatment plan. There are minimal side effects found in most patients. However, should there be any discomfort arise, do let your healthcare provider know. Always make sure to take this medicine according to instructions by your healthcare provider. Never stop taking this medicine without medical supervision as you may risk yourself with rebound effects.

Since hypertension is considered as a life-long disease, it is important to make sure patients understand the consequences if their blood pressure is not well-controlled. Beside taking medication, there are other things a person can do to make themselves live better while not jeopardising their quality of life. This includes:

  • Practise healthy eating habits by eating more vegetables and fruits. Vegetables and fruits contain vitamins, minerals and antioxidants that are good for your heart.
  • Avoid eating food high in saturated fat. Choose food high in monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fat such as nuts, salmon and tofu. Eat low-fat dairy products and leaner skinless meat.
  • Avoid eating food high in sodium. Always read food labels and choose products that are low in sodium. Choose fresh, frozen or no-salt-added foods instead of food that has been seasoned with premade sauces or instant food when buying in the market. Cooking from scratch and eating at home is the best way you can control sodium intake.
  • Keep track of your weight by maintaining healthy weight by doing regular physical activity.
  • Learn how to manage stress by practising relaxation techniques such as meditation.
  • Avoid smoking and drinking alcohol.
