Don’t creep out as we have some of the most unknown and interesting facts related to mosquitoes! Before performing any pest control, the first step is to learn about pests. Learning about pests gives you an idea about their habitat, features, behavior, and the point when you must be worried about their presence around.

 Similar to every pest, mosquitoes also carry some unique features in them. However, it doesn’t mean you ignore their presence. These pests carry deadly bacteria and virus than can be contagious in humans and spread fast. Treating mosquito problem on time is critical.

10 Facts related to Mosquitoes:

  1. Most of us are aware that mosquitoes spread diseases faster than other pests. In most cases, pests are usually scared of human presence and thus, they hide away but in case of mosquitoes these creatures are bold enough to bite hard and suck the blood out of human body. A few deadly diseases spread by these pests include West Nile Virus, Dengue, Malaria, etc…
  2. Did you know that mosquitoes have heat sensors? They use these sensors to detect the warmth of your body before learning which part of the body to bite. With the support of their heat sensors, they find out the best capillaries for sucking blood.
  3. Mosquitoes are attracted majorly to specific blood types in humans. For instance, majority of these crave for O type Blood. People with O type blood groups as bitten hard and most by these pests.
  4. Not many of us are aware that mosquitoes can smell carbon dioxide exhaled by us from a distance of 74 feet away. That is how they find us quickly and cause bumps on our skin in no time. They are silent blood sucking creatures.
  5. Mosquitoes contain a number of parasites that are majorly known to many people. A few names include fungi, ciliates, mites, and more…These parasites cause deadly diseases and transmit it from one human to another. Pest control becomes highly critical due to these issues.
  6. Mosquitoes have different behaviors. Some don’t bite at all and may just smell you and leave. On the other side, there are some that do not bite at all. Compared to males, female mosquitoes live longer. In most cases, it is the female mosquito that bites you hard. 
  7. Mosquitoes are not restricted to human blood; they also hog on animal blood. Thus, cross contamination and transmission of blood from one body to another can be life threatening.
  8. Mosquitoes exist since a long time and as per the studies, these are present for over 46 million years. However, it doesn’t mean they stay in your house for long. Considering the number of diseases spread by them, it would be wise to contact a pest control agency at the earliest.
  9. Researchers have also claimed that mosquitoes need no excuse of timing to bite and suck blood. They bite any time of the day and night. Thus, you will find their annoying presence throughout the day and night.
  10. These little pests not only stay on ground, but also survive on dirty water and standing water.

Considering the entire nuisance caused by mosquitoes as stated above, it would be wise to perform a pest control at the earliest.
